I'm talking about the success by the backing of Christ. Okay. I'm talking about how God has brought someone or brought someone from the pit all the way to the palace. I'm so excited about how God has allowed my guests to be able to transition, process, and to journey along. So I'm super excited, none other than to have Minister Donald Lee on here for tonight. Listen, I have taken a sabbatical from podcasts, from interviews, and you know, God had me in a season of hiding, he had me in a season of preparation, he had me in a season where I transitioned to a new state, a new city. We may even get into that sometime tonight. But he said, now is the time for you to go back to that thing which I have called you to do. And I really, really want to hear your story of how you were able to get even journey here to Georgia, right? Absolutely. Thank you so much. So um, I love how our pastor um Dr. Darius talks about uh people will try to box you into categories. So I'm not just that or this, I'm this and that. Okay, so living by myself. Um, I'm a man of God first and foremost. I'm a man. I walk on purpose. I'm a husband, I'm a father to four adult children. I am a new, newly grandparent. Oh my god, help me with that. You know, I am a son, I'm a brother, I am a minister of the gospel, I am a speaker, a coach, a soon-to-be author. I am a um soon-to-be podcast host, and I have produced um motivational and inspiration projects. You can find it on um all musical platforms. Um, A Moment with D. Lee. I produced it a couple years ago myself. Um, all the tracks are originally made and done by myself and our creative team at that particular time. So I am not just in one category. Um, I also have a real estate development company. Hitting Rock Bottom and God's Promise

you, God, for allowing us to be here, God, to share stories, God. God, we just thank you now because we know that you are the author and the finisher of our faith. And God, anything that we have going on, you will be able to complete it to his finish, God. And so we thank you for everything that you're doing, God. We thank you for Donald Lee on here today. God, we ask you whatever he's doing, God. We ask you to allow it to turn into gold. And for those that, you know, this may be your first time when I talk about cue for Christ, we talk about being quick and united, educated, understanding, excited, and determined for what Christ has for you. And I know that Mr. Dunn Dunn Lee has something, and you know, to be able to let us know. So when you um were a child and we'll stop there, like what did you have in mind that you may be doing or you know, that you thought about doing from childhood? What was your childhood like?

Wow, that is so that's a great question. So growing up, I always wanted to be a lawyer, but I did not have the grades, and we didn't, and my family didn't have the money to send me to school to um for that type of education. But nevertheless, um, I would say I was always involved in something as a child when it when it involved ministry. And man, I'll say when I was involved with it, I felt good doing it, and I was always that kid who was peculiar when I hung out with people that may have been doing some other things, you know what I'm saying? And I might have been a part of it too.

I mean, I know I have passed the statute of limitation on a few things, but I'm gonna just keep it 100 if I can say I was on the verge of sabotaging Donald Right 20, 30 years ago, and I had no clue. Amen. But God kept me and He covered me through the mess, he kept me, He covered me through my ignorance, he kept me, He covered me, He protected me. Come on, somebody, even through things seen, yeah, unseen.

Right, right, right, oh my god, oh my goodness. That's so that's so good. That's so the thing about it, he'll keep you when you don't want to be kept, you know what I mean?

So you you your cue stands for quickening. You start off by saying, Well, how was I awakened, or how was my calling awakened? It was always there, but I always wanted something else. Did you catch what I so even though the calling was there, I hope we get through the whole thing because I'm just the see the calling was always there, but I didn't see it because I didn't know who I was. Until I hit rock bottom.

Wow, oh my god, wow, that you know, man, and that's the thing, a lot of people don't understand that sometimes that's what it takes to find out who you are once you hit rock bottom.

So, yes, rock bottom was the best place for me. It was the best place. So 2004, 2005, somewhere around that time, I'm gonna just I'm gonna take you back to a place before the credit score was 800, before I had a few dollars in the bank, before we owned several properties. I was in a homeless shelter, sleeping in a room with six other men. Wow because I made bad decisions along the way. Wow. I had two children, was going through a separation, divorce, you you invited me, you want the whole story.

The Blueprint for Success

Just found out that I had a another young lady pregnant. Wow. That wasn't my wife. Wow. I was rock bottom in a homeless shelter. Wow. I had a dream one night, and and and I remember God saying, You messed up. He showed me. He said, but I'll give you everything back if you trust me. He said, but this time you can't play with me. This time, you got to come to me the the I need all of you this time, right? He said, I don't need the part of you that want to be in the street, I don't need the part of you that just wanna wanna play on Friday and Saturday and then come on Sunday. He said, I need all he said, because what I want to do through your life is so impactful. Yes, and I didn't know it then. Because I'm in a homeless shelter. I'm like, Lord, what are you what are you doing? Everybody turned their back on me. My family, like, just come home. My pride wouldn't let me come home. Right. But within three years, he restored everything that I lost in that season. Three years. Within three. So fast forward to what I operate in now is the hope, power, and truth blueprint for success. Right. So, and I'm gonna tell, like, there are eight steps to this blueprint, but I'm not gonna give you all eight tonight. I'm gonna give you three. The first step, here's the thing. No, I'm gonna skip the first step. I'm gonna skip the first step. Because see, the first step is a little fluff. Let's just keep it real. I'm gonna I'm gonna go to the meat and potatoes of the of the blueprint. The first step is the meat and potatoes is you gotta face your reality. Oh my god. See, see, that's that's down in like step number six. See, see, a lot of folks want to be real, but they don't want to face their reality. Okay, right. Okay, okay. They talking about they want a car, they want the clothes, they want the crib, but they got a 500 credit score. I ain't trying to do nothing to fix it. I'm just talking, I've been there, I've done that. I filed bankruptcy twice. I know what it's like to have several cars re I know what it's like to go to the dealership and and and wanna wanna want a Yukon, but really gonna roll off the lot with a a cobalt.

You gotta face reality, and somebody watching tonight, right? We we we got like less than a hundred days left in 2025. I'm gonna give you something for free. You gotta face the reality wherever you at. Right. I'm talking to the person in California, I'm talking to the person in Texas, I'm talking to the person in Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina, wherever you at. I'm encouraging you to face reality and do it now.

But but see, before you face reality, Kiana, I skipped the step, but you got to get a hold of yourself. See when I was shucking and ducking and and and conniving and being a manipulator and lying and doing all these things. See, it ain't no fun when you lied, you didn't cheated, you've been conniving, all these things, and it catches up with you. Right, right. What is your reality? You know, I have a dear brother that's watching tonight, and I seen him comment, dear brother, dear brother. I've known this brother about four years. He's in the Napa Valley, California area. Okay, he says, Donald, his name is Derek White. Shout out to the Faith family. He says, Donald, you got to get a hold of yourself. Yes, wow, wow, until you allow somebody to check you like that, Kiana. Yes, some folks just want to play, they want to come to church, they want you to lay their your hand on them for a few minutes, they want you to shine them for a few minutes, they want you to coddle them. But until you face reality and get a hold of yourself, ain't nothing gonna change.

And then before we move on, I want to say this part. I had to acknowledge, and then we're gonna get to the transition that I deserve better.

Did you hear what I said? Come on, a lot of people don't even know that they deserve better.

I deserve better, right? And I remember a time when somebody told me, Oh, you will never find nobody else. Nobody else is gonna ever love you like me. You're never going to have anything because we allow people to get in our head and tell us things that we don't understand, but you got to acknowledge that you deserve. I look at the young men, I look at the young ladies, beautiful young ladies, handsome young men, just giving themselves away. I'm not just talking physically, I'm talking emotionally, I'm talking spiritually, just draining and giving themselves away because they haven't acknowledged that I deserve. I got one daughter, three sons, and I used to tell my daughter all the time, you are the prize. Yes, yes, I acknowledge you deserve better. I'm not trying to take over your podcast.

So we talked about the cue, we talked about the cue, how I was awake and now let's get to the you. Who did I unite with along the way? Who did I unite with? I united with people with purpose.

See, this might get me in trouble because I know we got some spectators that's watching tonight. I got tired of dealing with folks that only wanted Donald's gift but didn't want Donald.

Sick and tired of dealing with folks that wanted to give, that wanted me to be a part of their association, be a part of what they had to offer, but did not value or want me. So I connected with some like-minded people. I joined Made Men in 2023, which is a program our church have for males. I was in the second cohort. Oh my god, it changed my life. We talk about a thousand brothers, a thousand plus brothers, a thousand brothers, with it is from all over the United States, right? All over all over the globe. I even went back into the program for a third year. I'm like, a second year, which was cohort three. I'm like, man, I need this again. I went through it a third time because it's so much content to where I needed to level up because every time you go through something like that, you gotta be able to look at yourself in the mirror and be like, what am I doing? Right, right. Okay, we talked about the United, which is the you. Now you want to talk about the e. See, this is where people get caught up at is the education. Yes, everybody think you gotta have all this. I'm not against education. I came through the back door, Keanu. I finished high school barely, okay? But around three years ago, God was like, Okay, son, college didn't work for you. You didn't do the college thing, you barely finish high school, you need some skills, some soft skills under your belt. Right, that's when I invested in myself. I met people like Pastor Samantha Carter, who's on this call. I met people again like Pastor Derek White through an organization, John Maxwell. We are one of 50,000 certified coaches, speakers, and trainers. We went through that program, we invested several thousand of dollars, not no 10, 20 now. It won't know, go through our program for six weeks and get a certificate. We all invested several thousand of dollars to boss up. So I'm gonna ask somebody that's watching, how bad do you want it? Asking me what's the secret sauce, and you ain't willing to invest in yourself. I love it.

The Divine Transition to Georgia

Oh my goodness. Now I don't mind helping anybody, and I'll do anything for you. But my question is now, would do you have what skin do you have in the game? If you ain't got no skin in the game, don't call my number. And my number, I've had the same one for 19 years. You know, I ain't one of these guys that make it and switch it up, so it's the same number, but don't call my number if you ain't willing to put no skin in the game because it's gonna cost you something.

Now, your framework now, we're talking about you, the understanding. What was it like when you gain full understanding of your calling? Let's keep it real. Do we ever get full understanding of our calling? It's a continuous ebbing flow, right? Just when we think we arrive, God said, Up, it's time to level up again. So let's talk about the transition. So, yes, yes, remarried, met my beautiful wife in 2006, moved to a beautiful city called Rock Hill, South Carolina from Virginia. Spent the first 22 years of my life, don't try to do the math, the next 18 years in South Carolina. Yeah, I know, I know. 45, 45. So in 2022, I'm at a conference, just got the job of my dreams. Company car, nice salary. That's right, Tavares. It costs something, it called it definitely cost. And God said, Don't get comfortable. We were at the International Leadership Conference hosted by TD Jakes 2022. Ironically, Darius Daniels, my pastor, now opened up that night. I just interviewed with a job. They sent me back an email with an offer during the conference. Wow. Holy Spirit said, Don't get comfortable. You're not even gonna be here long enough. I'm like, God, what you mean? God, what you mean? I finally made it. Six-figure job, company car. He said, Don't get comfortable. I started that job a week, maybe two weeks later. Nothing went right from day one.

Because God had other plans.

Right, right.

So eight months into the role, he said, Are you gonna trust me? All right, I don't advise nobody to do this. He said, I want you to leave that job. So what you mean leave the job? He said, I want you to leave the job. I left the job, y'all. I'm unemployed for almost another seven months. I'm telling my wife, baby, we we supposed to move, baby. We're supposed to move. She likes God told you to move. He ain't tell me to move. So now is the vision. Let's just keep it real. Right, right. She comes back October 2023. She says, I went to this conference this weekend. This is a year later from the original conference that God spoke to me. She said I was disobedient. Wow. She said, I don't think it's Texas, but we are going to move. She said, Go back to God and hear from him and let him tell you where we're going. Fast forward to that April. I come down to a male transformation lab sponsored by Change Church Made Men, and PD, all he talked about was being able to make a decision. He was talking to the men, about 300 men. My brother Calvin Davis, who's on this line tonight, he was in the room with me, sitting beside me. Right. What's wrong with you? You just not yourself. On my way back home, I falled out crying. Oh my goodness. And he said, If you trust me, Donald, and move here, I'm gonna change your life. That was April. I went back home, told my wife, I said, We move and she was in the thick of tax season. Season, she does taxes, so it's the middle of April. So we we had four months after tax season. That was April the 20th. We were officially living here August the 30th. Now, mind you, mind you, we left a 3,000 square foot home. We left careers, we left so many things to come to an unknown place on faith. We left stability, we left. The comfort of our home. We left the comfort of familiality. We left the comfort of people. But we left because there was purpose calling us. And it was no longer in South Carolina. It was here in Georgia.

Right. Right. Oh my goodness. I'm sitting here listening to this. And it's like that's those stories when I talk to people, you know, that has come to change. And I'm one of them ones where God said, Do you trust me? And I quit my job. And I said, and I had just got a radio station. And I was getting ready to, I was like, okay, God, you want me to move? Well, you want me to move to serve and change when I'm like, I'm okay here. And that is that that's why I'm sitting here, like, oh my God. God just he the way he does things, especially with the understanding, like like we're talking about. We not we may not understand it, you know what I'm saying? But we see how it worked for us, right? You know, that stepping out on faith, that you know, the faith that most people talk about, but they are scared to do, right? Let's be real, let's be honest. People talk about faith, but they do not exercise that faith at all when it comes to something. They want to be realistic, right?

That part. So when he told Abram to leave, he said, Go, I'll show you. Right. He said, Go. And people use that scripture when they want to make you happy, but he said, Go, I'll show you. And he said, Once you get there, those who bless you, I'm gonna bless. Now, check this out. And I'm not trying to have nobody in my pocket in my business, but I left without a job. I'm not advising anybody to do that, right? Right. But I was sure I told my wife when we got here, I I'm getting half, I said, baby, I'll have a job in 30 days because I knew I'll go get a job at a I'll get a job, right?

But here's what he did. Because I trusted him, I got a job making more money than the job that I walked off of that I thought I was losing something. And it's not about money. Listen, don't call me for no loan because I ain't got it. But my point is, listen, here's what I'm saying, I'm keeping it 100. I'm keeping it 100 because I fully submitted and surrendered, right? Right, I fully surrendered and some and submitted to the process. We we had see see everybody wants your promise, but nobody wants your process. See, your promise is here, right? But your process is like this. See, your process is oh my god, the bills do, the marriage is crazy, kids acting fool. See, in the midst of that, there's also tension, right? That people don't understand. People see the beautiful pictures, they like, oh, you and your wife so perfect, but you don't know the hell that we have to go through to make things work, right? We raised four children, a blended family. They're 24, 24, 23, and 19. Wow since the age of five, four, and a newborn. Wow, nobody don't know Christmases, birthdays, drama with different people. You know what I'm saying? I know exactly what you're talking about. Let's get to the E. Excited. How excited am I now doing what I do? Now let me let me give you the the podcast, but let me give you the real answer. The podcast answer is I'm excited all the time. Right. The the real answer is there are days I'm like, Lord, what am I doing? Okay, people say, Donald, your energy is so contagious. I had somebody Sunday, they says, wait a minute, you off a little bit. So when because when when people are used to seeing you always in a zone, I said, No, I'm good. I said, just you know, I had a long weekend, you know, we had the couples' conference, some long days, some long nights. I said, but I'm good. They said, I'm just checking on you. I'm naturally happy, but the enemy tries to rob me of that because I have been in a place where I wanted to please people for 45 years of my life.

called one of my partners this morning. I said, Man, I'm getting on this podcast tonight, man. I, you know, I ain't did this thing in about a year, you know. Man, it was a time where I was on a podcast every other week. You know, he said, Donald, do me a favor. He said, D Lee, do me a favor. That's this is my guy. He can call me at any time, he can check me because you gotta let people check you. Right. He said, get on there and be yourself and watch God get the glory. Right. My prayer before I logged on was God, I don't want to perform and I don't want to people please.

And then your D is determined. So we talked about quickened, united, educated, understanding, excited, now determined. Right. I'm determined now more. What do you do to stay determined and keep pushing forward? Number one, I trust God. Number two, I surround myself with people that want to see me grow. Right. And number three, I'm in a season that I know what I want now. You can't trick me with the things that you used to trick me with 20 years ago. Man, I'm not perfect by no means, but I know what I want now, and I know it costs more now than it did 20 years ago. Right. You take that for what it's worth. The cost is more now at 45 than it was when I was 25. Woo! And I'm not just talking about my wife taking 50 either. I'm talking about it's gonna cost me more to battle back now at 45 than it did at 20%. So now I'm using wisdom more.

Right, right. That is so good. That is so good. I mean, you know, wisdom is my thing is if you're doing the same thing that you were doing 20 years ago, something is wrong, right? And I and I'm not saying that, you know, I'm not trying to be ugly about you know, to nobody, but I'm saying if you're doing the same thing and getting the same results, but hoping for a different result, that is the that is the definition of insane. So you want to make sure that you're trying to get to a different level by changing up the way that you've done always done things, and that is wisdom 101, you know, is the is to change up things because of you know, and I think I think that most people could grab a hold to that because of the simple fact that you know now we see how you were back then to now how you are now. So one of the things that I wanted to ask you, and I'm so thankful that you went through the questions by yourself. I I love that. I didn't have to interrupt you and ask you. I love that. But no, one thing that I wanted to ask like if you you know had something that you would tell your 18-year-old self, um, that you could tell them now, what you know, what would you tell them? And it don't take much for somebody to call you on the phone or send you a message and wave that shiny object in your face, right? Because here's what I understand Satan knows what you like just as good as God knows what you like. So there's been some things that I've been praying for in secret, and folks have been sending me messages hey, do it this way, do it that way, but I'm at a standstill because God hadn't released me to go that route yet. Right, that's the shiny object, my dear friend Linda. All good ain't God. All good ain't God. That's my dear friend. She's actually a business partner of mine. Okay, me, her, and a brother named Troy Wigfall. We have a real estate company called Kinghaven Capital, and we are moving at a slower rate than some of these other real estate developers because we want to do it right. Right. Oh, we can get into some deals. Anybody can get into a deal, but we want it to be done the right way, and we want it to be done third way, the king's way, not coaches' way, not church's way. We want it to be done because I don't want to I want to be able to sleep when I get off this tonight. I want to be able to sleep good at night.

You can see everything and say, Oh, I want to look like them and I want to be like them. I want my podcast to move like their podcast or whatever. When I started podcasting, I started because God gave me God gave me all of this, and and it's a God move and not just a good move when I decided to do everything, right? And we have to make sure that we are not um, you know, looking at the glitter, not looking at, you know, because half of this stuff on social media ain't even real, y'all.

If you ain't participating, forget just here's the thing we need participators in our life, but here's the thing, and I want to I want to give somebody a major key if you don't take nothing else from these 42 minutes. the phone calls, and I was in the studio the middle of February, and we released it in May. Now, let me say this. Wow, it didn't do what I wanted it to do. Because sometimes we we have all these expectations, right? Right, and there were some things on the back end that I probably didn't do properly on the business end, but I didn't do it to get rich or make a lot of money, I did it to make impact, right? Um, but it's on all streaming platforms, it's called A Moment with D Lee. That's D-L-E-A, and I have eight tracks on there. It's less than 30 minutes, but it's one track that's near and dear to my heart, and it's called The Journey. And I'll close with this before I pray. The journey is near and dear to me because I have truly been on a journey, guys. Yes, you know, ups, downs, highs, lows. But God dealt with me a couple of months ago. He said, Stop reliving what you've been through. He said, Because I brought you all through all of that, and nobody wouldn't know unless you tell them. Now we are overcome by the blood of our testimony, we must share. But he told me to stop focusing on the past and to focus on where he's taken me, which is multi-million dollar status. It's not about the money, but he says, You are gonna be a multimillionaire, you're gonna have generational wealth. He he says your voice is going to be a voice that's gonna impact many, many people. Wow, he said, you might not be getting the invitations just yet, you might not get the request just yet, but he made a promise to me.
